Taking Your Own Photos

As I work from the photos you send me, it's always best to supply the best quality photos you can. If you're sending digital shots, make sure the camera is set at it's maximum resolution. For film cameras, please send the original prints (not slides).

Use pictures you're happy with

Please bear in mind that I will recreate the pose that is in the photo, so make sure you're happy with the picture you send me. The more detail in the photo, the more detail I can include in the portrait, often I find it's the small details that help capture the character of your pet.

The great outdoors

Natural light is always the best way to go, but try and avoid very strong sunlight. If indoors, use a well lit room that doesn't require a flash, in both cases we want to avoid strong shadows or a bleached effect where detail are lost. If you want to include a background, try and take the picture in a favourite place e.g. on a beech, in a garden, at the park. If you want a background but don't have the background you want in the image, it may be possible for me to include a similar location from other sources.

Looking back

However, if you need to rely on exsiting photos, don't worry, send them through and I can advice on their suitability. In most cases there is enough detail for me to use.
